Do you love spending time with kids and building relationships with them?
If so, Warriuka could be for you! Warriuka Adventure Camping is in search of people interested in doing an internship in 2012.
Imagine spending a year taking school kids to amazing places all over our rugged and beautiful state, gaining skills and leading groups in a huge range of adventure activities including white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing, caving, abseiling, rock climbing, navigation, hiking and camping. Imagine spending a year being a person of great influence in the lives of kids, getting the opportunity to share your faith and helping them to discover God’s love. Imagine spending a year working in a Christian organisation where fun and caring staff are plentiful. Imagine building up your leadership skills throughout the year to such a high level that you are able to direct your very own camp.
You will have the option of doing a 6 month or one year internship.
Warriuka Internship Information
Length: 6 or 12 months
Basic Internship
What is Covered: Senior first aid, Bronze medallion, two x five day training camps, four x two day training camps (White water rescue, LEAD, staff conference, intern hike), free entry to every other SU training event through out the year and a 5 day holiday camp.
Qualifications/Skills that can be attained:
- Senior 1st Aid, Bronze Medallion, SU White Water RescueDevelop leadership skills
- Learn skills in engaging young people in discussing the gospel and sharing their faith.
- Attain specific outdoor activity skills in order to run activities safely, e.g. navigation training, and how to teach skills e.g paddle strokes in canoeing. Collaborate with team members and school staff
- Plan activities to engage all participants
- Apply risk management procedures to run safe activities
Optional Extras for Internships – (12 month internships only)
Cert 4 in Christian Ministry –
You have the option with your internship of doing a Cert 4 in Christian Ministry alongside your internship. It is an online course with some in class units that Warriuka will facilitate in your internship.
Outdoor Instructor Qualified –
Another option for your internship is to attain recognised outdoor qualifications. We will work alongside you to prepare for and complete the following courses.
- Abseiling Guide – Natural Surfaces
- Flat Water Canoeing Guide
- Swift Water Rescue 3
- Wilderness First Aid
With these qualifications you will be able to pursue a career in the outdoor industry with confidence. (All courses run by outside training providers)
