Performing Arts Department Associate Performers
The Fine Edge Theatre Company takes high quality productions
into WA schools, raising questions of faith and its relevance
to our daily lives. The performing group is comprised of five
or six .Associate Performers., who are interns working within
the Performing Arts Department.
Associate Performers work under the direction of the Fine
Edge Artistic Director. The role involves rehearsal,
performance and facilitation of group discussion. Work is based
around a series of performance seasons in schools and some
churches. Associate Performers work part-time, Tuesday - Thursday
plus Sundays during the Easter and Christmas season. This allows
them to gain additional employment or undertake study.
Moves & Voices Theatre in association with Fine Edge
Theatre Company also offer positions which will be full time for
3 months of the year and part-time for the rest for the year. The
Easter and Christmas primary school seasons will be completed
with Moves & Voices focusing on music and puppetry. The
middle season will be working with Fine Edge Theatre Company on
their high school program.
Associate Performer Intern positions require specific skills
in the performing arts. An audition is part of the interview
process.
Warriuka Interns
Warriuka School Adventure Camping conducts a program of school
camps, during school term, in partnership with school teachers.
Campers participate in adventure activities, camping experiences
and discussions relating activities to the Christian faith. Each
camp has a salaried professional Camp Director, who is assisted
by Interns and additional volunteer staff.
Interns in the Warriuka Department undertake a range of camps,
and assist in the office tasks that support the program. They
work on a specific project that helps develop the overall program.
Warriuka Interns are strongly encouraged to enrol as students
in the Certificate IV Outdoor Recreation, offered by Scripture
Union. See the separate Student Handbook for further information
on this course. Whether enrolled or not, all Interns will undertake
training that is aligned to the requirement of this certificate.
Over a one year full-time appointment, interns undertake
approximately 100 days "in the field", starting with a
training week in mid January and concluding in December. School
holidays are a quieter period in the Warriuka department.
Warriuka Intern positions involve many weeks of rough camping,
and a reasonable degree of physical fitness. Some specialist
equipment is loaned to you for the year, while you will need some
of your own personal camping gear.
Tailored Internship arrangements
We are open to arranging a specific job description to best
suit your interests, as long as we believe we can properly
supervise your work. Examples are:
-
Collaborative arrangements between us and your church, whereby
you might be placed in your local church to minister there for
a portion of your time.
-
Arrangements involving more than one department within SU, for
example a range of ministry opportunities with primary age
children, including camps, clubs, school camps and local
outreach.
